In the worst flooding that Indonesia has seen in over a decade, bridges, farmlands, homes, and so much more have been destroyed. The heavy rain that started in the Indonesian capitol of Jakarta on New Years Eve of this year caused mudslides and temporary rivers that made it extremely hard for rescue workers to reach the people in need. People were stranded, trapped, and in need of evacuation. The speed of the water going down the streets was so fast and dense that it would push and move parked cars. At least 66 deaths were reported. Around 400,000 people were put into temporary shelters as they waited out the floods. A number of diseases, like hepatitis A, rose in numbers throughout people in the flooded areas of Indonesia during this time.
