For this assignment, we were tasked to create studio portraits on the go that either tell a story about our subject or shows them in their Halloween costume. My two subjects were Lauren Revord, who you see above in her EMT uniform, and Dana Hayes, who you see above in her Space Jam Halloween costume.

When doing the weekly in class assignment, my camera was having trouble with the white backdrops and showing the wrinkles in them, and we couldn’t figure out why. Unfortunately, the only backdrops left to check out for this assignment were the white ones, so I was a little worried about how the pictures would turn out. While you can still see a lot of the wrinkles, I did everything I could to try to get them out, and I was able to get a lot out using Lightroom. I even brough my spray bottle to try to get rid of the wrinkles as much as possible.

Anyways, when doing this assignment, I tried many different things to try to get the wrinkles out of the back, including using both backlights to try and wash out the wrinkles, using one backlight, lowering one and raising the other, taking the subject far away from the background, shooting at different angles with the background, and more.

With Lauren, I really wanted to show off her EMT uniform logo. I think it turned out well in the fact that it stood out well against the background. Since it was a more serious job, I liked the pictures of Lauren looking serious, as I believe it added to the portrait and captured more of her and the job.

With Dana, she came up with the idea for her costume, and I really liked it. She was a very good subject int he way that she was very expressive with her face and had a fun time with it, taking time to ask different things and do different poses that she thought may look interesting with the costume.

For the entire assignment, I kept the Lense at 55mm and the f stop at 5.6. I mostly used ISO100, and 1/200th of a second for the photos as well.
